I have just downloaded clips and have started using it. Here's how it feels for a new beginner:-

    1. I like the feel of it. The most interesting feature for me is the floating transparent toggle panel

    2. However, the program feels like that it's still in beta - some very basic things seem to need addressing, although this could be due to the fact that i'm new to the program (i'll let you know hopefully!)

    3. After 3 mins of using it i was impressed (It is an expensive product - price is too high! much too high in my opinion). As once i started experimenting with the navigation I started to become less enthusiastic about the product. 10 mins later & i can confirm that it's highly unlikely that i would purchase this product yet! It feels as if it's in it's early stages of development (lot's of basic improvements needed).

    4. The fact that the time is ticking for my trial period is a shame. As you will lose your most valuable asset at this stage. People like me who will offer you feedback and suggestions. I'm in a dilemma whether to feedback at all, as what's the point when It will time out in 15 days time. However I will try it a little longer and feedback a few specifics below.

    Regards

P.S. your application has great potential once you can address some teathing issues!

    Clips feedback

    1. Why have the "board" and "organizer", when they do the same thing? The "organizer layout" is so much more attractive and useful.

    2. I like the clean un-intrusive feel of the organizer. Whereas I found the board ugly (especially when i copied 20 clips from firefox, it just filled the whole screen and so intrusive). Is there any use to the "inspector" button on each thumbnail (i couldn't think of one).

    3) In the "organizer" i click on assign keyboard shortcut (Bug! but it doesn't work, no box appears to enter a shortcut)

    4) I open "textedit" and try to paste clips clips from the "organizer" but nothing happening (Bug! they will not paste). The only way i can paste from the organizer is to select "copy to clipboard" (from dropdown) then it will paste! cumbersome!

    5) By far the most appealing tool for me is the floating/transparent "panel" (unintrusive and totally moveable). It's great how it floats unassumingly until we need it. It's transparency makes it very friendly - It doesn't feel that it's getting in the way. But the navigation in the "panel" is poor. It does not have scroll wheel capabilities, so that it only has available the last 6 clippings (i'd like that to make available all clippings by means of a scroll wheel)

I have been on a quest for a clipboard tool for mac for the last year. I have trialled over 20 different products and bought a few, but never been that happy with any of them (you can find a post that i wrote to highlight the problem at http://forums.obdev.at/viewtopic.php?t=103 (my username is waynerrr)
The more that i use clips the more that I think it's not quite the product that i'm looking for. A floating panel eventually starts to become annoying. A dropdown selection from the menu bar requires too much mouse movement. A side drawer that pops out is also not the answer (again constant mouse movements become a pain). I think the answer is a smart "last copy" idea that is activated by a keyboard shortcut.I was trying to think how i'd explain it's operation, but probably the best way is to take a look at a firefox extension called LastTab. Although it has nothing to do with clipboards, it will demonstrate how i would love to see a clipboard application behave. i.e. unintrusive, intellegent, activated by a shortcut. 4. The reason for many UIs is flexibility. Some people like the Organizer because it's a standard window, some don't want a window to get in their way and want fast filtering with the Board, as needed. Some other people want a small Panel displayed constantly. "Last copy" shortcuts are supported by Clips since version 1.0. Please see the Preferences.

I just downloaded Clips, and so far I like both the floating panel and the Organizer. The latter is almost like iTunes for your clips. There's definitely room for improvement in Clips, but I'v tried several clipboard applications and so far this one seems to be a cut above them all.
