Since Apples latest OSX update is approching, i was wondering if Linkinus is already 64 bit and 10.6 proof. I am just asking out of interest and without any complaint.

    Best regards.

RIght now 2.0.1 does only work on 10.6 in Rosetta mode as far as I know. I am sure, though, that by September a compatible version will be released.

Still going for a compatible version BY september? Kind of a VERY important build for 90% of the Mac users.. (Since most of us want the HUGE speed boost for our OS).

    (Sorry for the double post)

Any reason why Linkinus isn't in Cocoa already? Just curious what the devs were thinking making a Mac app without Cocoa.. Since now they have to suffer through making us use Rosetta.

It is in Cocoa, but — more importantly — whether an application is written with Cocoa or not has absolutely nothing to do with Rosetta (which is a PPC translator).

Anyway, for those of you who can't use Linkinus 2.x anyway because of its constant lock-ups, you might be excited to know that 1.3 seems to work fine in Snow Leopard!

If it's written as a Universal application you shouldn't have any problems with Snow Leopard... and since 2.0 is Leopard only.. the team did something shitty to make it not Snow Leopard compatible (Cuz it's not hard to make an app Snow Leopard compatible.. if you made the app right in the first place). Not trying to sound like an ass or anything.. but really.. If it's in Cocoa there's no reason it shouldn't be fully compatible with Snowy unless they did something the wrong way.

Anyways.. whatever.. I've gotta wait until Monday for Snowy to come anyways.. guess i'll hope the team can push out a very simple build by then....

Well I can confirm that version 2.0.1 doesn't work with Snow Leopard unless you install Rosetta libraries, that's the only way to make it work. Version 2.0.2 is on the way & should fix that problem though, I hope it'll come around soon.

Yeah, just tried it myself as well. So far my only Rosetta app, oh well.

Yeah... lets hpe they roll out this patch soon.... this whole '110% CPU' consumption isn't going to fly with me.. PPC FTL...

Oh, and it was only giving me that ridiculous CPU because it's a bit glitchy.. it randomly came back to it's senses a little bit later.

I'll be honest. For $30 I expected them to have this fixed by now.

Please read the blog. We have offer a public beta of 2.0.2 that runs on Snow Leopard without Rosetta.

    Also

the team did something shitty to make it not Snow Leopard compatible (Cuz it's not hard to make an app Snow Leopard compatible.. if you made the app right in the first place).
Well, the last time I had a look at wikidot's compatibility list … a large number of apps have problems, even Adium, AppZapper or Cyberduck FTP … well there are lots more with quirks. Naturally a good number running fine. My point, however, is that when changing OS versions in major numbers broken apps have to be expected for one reason or another.

A small number of apps aren't compatible for one reason or another, yes, that's true... But really it's not hard to make it Snowy compatible, you really don't have to do anything if you're writing for Leopard anyways.

And Thanks for pointing out the beta to us.

And another edit, lol <333333 @ the Simplified Dark style that I lost during the 2.0 upgrade. Waay worth the wait for him to update this and throw it into the 2.0.2 package.

Do you guys plan to update the styles that don't currently have timestamps and throw those in? They seem kind of important, even if you don't care very much. (Hover-over timestamps are kind of annoying and gimmicky if you just wanna know without mousing over every single line to find a time or something.)

(Something else I wanted to ask.. but of course i've forgotten.. twice now, lol)

Remembered. Any plans to put Notices back in the main chat? Making a query for notices is annoying since 2.0 came out.

Yes, I installed Snow Leopard as well. The only way that I could get Linkinus to work was to back track to v.1.3. I would be interested in getting support for 2.x.

@Bruce20437 You have to run it in Rosetta mode (Get Info -> Run in Rosetta) It's a checkbox option in the get info screen, above the Locked checkbox.
